ok, i have a 1996 zx9 that wont start. the motor has been rebuilt with these additions..
1. replaced wire harness
2. replaced cdi
3. replaces junction box
4. replaced ignition switch
5. carbs has been disassembled & cleaned
6. replaced spark plugs(2x's)
7. sidestand switch bypassed
8. fuel pump bypassed for now, gas ran straight thru to bowls

keep in mind, im only tryin 2 start this to hear it run....the bowls have gas in them & i spray starter fluid in the stacks. the choke is 100% open & throttle is open wide. now when i hit the starter button, it turns over & every now & then it will catch & run for a split second or two then dies. i have the wiring diagram from kawasaki to try & eliminate anythin electrical. i read sumthing on the neutral switch but confused on what is what..light green wire & black/yellow bypass to get neutral light on..green/white wire not hooked up to anything & a small 2 prong harness with a yellow wire & black/yellow..dont know where that goes???(will try to upload pics soon). i thought about it being flooded but after sitting for a day or so, it still gives me the same results..nothin..someone please help..spring is soon to be here...

Light green is neutral. needs to be earthed.
Green/white + black/yellow with single plugs are sidestand
Yellow + black/yellow twin plug I believe would be fuel gauge sender.

ok fuel is in the bowls..I will ground the light green wire when I get back to the bike. The fuel pump harness(black) are red & black wires..the harness in question is white with a yellow & black/yellow wire, which I figured has to be a ground wire. Spark plugs wet? U mean the wires right? It turns over & will start briefly but that's it..thought about another set of carbs...

Ok- fuel is in the bowls. Now try and crank it for a little. Pull one of the spark plugs. It will look wet with fuel if the carbs are supplying the engine fuel.
Did you fully breakdown the carbs and clean every jet?

Yeah I thought about the carbs so bad I went to bed & dreamt I had another set laying around sumwhere..well, I woke up later to find out I didnt.. so I went & pulled them off the bike, tore it only to see that all 4 jets(holders) were clogged up. So I now have 4 more coming to replace those..hopefully that is/was the problem..stay tuned & I will keep y'all informed

Keep us updated, I went through this nightmare last month and hated it so much I made a Youtube video about it! Let me know if you need any suggestions!:

I thought they are supposed to be 170/180?

Seems like your two bigger ones are too big. But then, I don't know 9Rs.

What will happen if I use the #190's? Tried cleaning the original jet holders for the weekend, couldn't get the smallest torch tip in that little hole so I have up & ordered new ones from Kawasaki only to find out they were discontinued. I found these 4 on Ebay so I thought maybe they will work.
