Bike was sitting for 10 years...
It was not running, I went though the carbs cleaned the tank and replaced the battery.
Starts up is rough but once started it will idle fine. The bike will not rev much over 4-6k It really seems to stuggle at 6-7k. Power when riding is very weak

I recall one of the ZX7 gurus responding to a similar question not too long ago. Check the jets for blockage, and the vacumn lines for leaks.

It is generally the pilots that get plugged resulting in hard starting.

Have you jetted the bike? Could easily be a lean situation that would result in those effects.

Compression check? Lots of things to go through.

I figured it out, I went ahead and forked out the cash for a set of new diaphragms. The old ones looked alright but one of them had a hairline crack I didn’t notice before. I also put a new set of gaskets on the carburetor bowls along with new o-rings on the pilot screws. The old o-rings were flat and very hard. -Lessons learned- to never assume old o-rings and gaskets are “ok”. Hope this can help someone else
