I have a flat bracket that bolts to the center fairing stay bolt on the far side of the clocks and, with the standard suction-cup bracket, hold an Escort 8500. There's a picture on here somewhere on an old thread, but that was a photobucket loss when they went berserk.

Will sell for cheap.

My dad and I have put radar detectors on top of our tank bags. It may fit into the clear map pocket.

Thanks to everyone for your well wishes and advice. I'm super excited to begin my trip this weekend. After listening to some of your comments or reading rather, I'm not considering an even crazier idea of running for 10 hours straight the first night. Giving myself a four-hour commute to work the next day. I don't get vacation time so missing work would be super expensive.

Also this bike is a 2013 model with 500 miles on it. Actually 800 miles. What should I look out for in terms of maintenance issues and potential failure points?

Additionally I Fair mostly two things. My body not being able to tolerate the long journey and eventual boredom from too many miles. My mind is very active. Dont like being idle. Yes my safety routine is an active task, but all day?

Well, I'm going to do bike review. Maybe I'll analyze 1 feature per hour? Do 7 features, then audio book for a couple hours, then 1 hr to hotel?

I think that is ticket. Its NOT 10 HOURS. Its 1 hr..at a time. Step by step. I can also take 30 minute cruise breaks. Slow lane, nice and easy, clear my mind.

Also thought of office ergonomics tips. Get up once an hour. Pull over where safe and do quick sprints and stretch. Stretch at gas stations.

If you stop once an hour, it'll take forever to get where you're trying to go. You have nearly a 200-mile tank, you should o a least 150 (2 hrs slab) then stop for fuel, refreshments and a stretch.

Good point. The math gets you every time. Even a number as small as 5 adds up when you * 13.

I just arrived in Atlanta and the bike is almost ready

I wouldn't try and ride 10 hours on a bike your body has not yet had time to adjust to the riding ergonomics. It usually takes my body 2 or 3 150+ mile rides for my body to adjust to the bike. Better to miss a day of work rather than be involved in a mishap due to fatigue.

Made it 20 minutes before I broke down. Took a break to eat then it wouldn't start. Try to pop the clutch but couldn't get it to start that way. Guess I didn't have enough speed. The guy who sold it to me came to help out and was able to get it to start but then it started blowing crazy smoke the amount of smoke you would see after a heavy burnout

So sorry to hear this. What did you do? Give bike back? Tow it? Let us know. Wish you the best.

The guy that sold the bike to me help me start the bike up and told me that the battery just needed more time to charge cuz it's been sitting for a bit. I rode all the way to Atlanta without issues then 40 miles north I stopped to look for a hotel and then when I try to start it it wouldn't start and I couldn't bump start it. Luckily some locals here are helping me out but actually the bike is not starting even with it connected to a truck battery

Sorry to hear of your stranding. When I saw the pic of the bike with all the stickers, I was wondering what sort of abuse it had received under previous ownership.

Yessir. Haven't finished crating it, still need to drain the oil. About a days work to get it ready to ship.

Comes with PC III, Gipro ATRE, throttle bodies, cables, ECU, whatever the buyer needs. Have header, radiator, spare fan, complete front end, wheels,. brakes, just about everything but plastic and frame.

You might just need a new battery, I've had car batteries that were shot and wouldn't take a charge or a jump but when I installed a new battery the engine fired right up. As for the engine smoking my BMW R12GS will smoke if it's left on the side stand for over a week. Once the excess oil that accumulated in the cylinder burns off it stops smoking and runs normally. You may have a similar problem so your problem may not be all that serious. I thought I read the bike only had 800 miles on the clock, if the numbers are accurate hard to believe any serious damage could have been done to the engine in so few miles. Good luck and I hope everything works out for you, keep us up to date on your progress.

This is a well known issue with "boxer" engine engine layouts like BMW's and the 4 cylinder Honda Goldwings. They have a tendency to leak just a bit of oil into the left side cylinders as a small amount of oil can get by the rings when sitting on the side stand. Oil going past the rings will leave the typical blue (white) smoke out of the exhaust. This should never happen in “upright” (online fours) engines due to gravity.

Good luck, and I hope it goes well for you.

He rode the bike for 20 minutes so the side stand issue seems irrelevant and I've never heard any 14 ever blowing smoke on start up from sitting on a side stand.
If the 800 miles is correct that bike was race ready with side mirrors removed.
If there was that much white smoke then I'm guessing coolant leak somewhere
I would check coolant level and oil level and coolant in the oil
Battery sounds no good. 20 minutes of riding should be plenty.
Previous owner should have had it ready anyway.
I think you got "smoked"

Not sure if I said this, but the reason why it wouldn't start the second time was likely because there was no oil in the bike and the weak battery didn't help. All the oil was on the back tire and my boots and all over many components on the inside including the battery.
