97 zx1100 oil cooler issues

i have a 97 kawasaki zx1100 and having oil leaking from the top of the oil cooler line between the round metal fitting and the bottom of the oil cooler washer. Cant tell if its the washer, the oil cooler, or the metal circular line. My question is has anyone seen the actual metal line leak. Parts are so expensive and rather not just throw money at it. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. All i have done is replace the 2 washers on the bolt that secures the line to the cooler.

I had the same problem on my 96, replaced the crush washers and still seeped just a bit. Odd, I then cleaned the fitting again and used a small amount of some gasket maker, torqued tight and no more leaking. Never experienced or seen an oil line breaking. I originally thought it was the oil cooler.
