H2sx

If this bike does get released in November, this forum name will have to change. I will be all over an H2 based sport tourer ...........

Very sleek and nasty-looking. But the fairing isn't big enough and where asre the hard bags. They probably aren't ready to mothball the Concours 14 just yet.

Still a sportbike, not a sport-tourer.

It may be a pig, but it's a pig with a rocket in it's ass!

This is an artists rendtion of the SX, so not reality. I know a few guys that run Kawi dealerships, and no surprise, they have heard nothing.

A few disappointments in the pics:
No hard bags ............ there better be for a true sport tourer
Standard forks instead of those new Showa gas forks on a few models
Windshield and bars are too low with too much tilt back on the windscreen
Do we really have to have that damn heavy single sided swingarm on a sport tourer?

I will keep an eye to see if the real thing comes closer to what I would want before I start thinking about parting with my Ninja 1000

Different tail section and lowers fairing looks a mite less squished down. Maybe to appeal to a wider section of the buying public.

I think the buying public is shrinking with the rates that are being asked.

I agree
My first brand new bike cost me $800. I won't disclose anymore info for sake of ridicule
Years ago there was a waiting list to buy a Harley in the $30k+ range and they didn't have anywhere near the performance or technology of today's sport bike
but dressing like a pirate was cool

Like everything, the cycle swings back and forth like a pendulum. There is discussion about this phenomena going on at another bike forum. The cruiser builders like Harley are struggling unsuccessfully to bring younger riders into the fold to replace the old farts going out with age, disability or death.

Another trend among the young, is resurrecting clapped out bikes and selling them for cheap transportation. I like the idea of viable machines being preserved and used, but it doesn't help the manufacturers sell new bikes. A $20,000+ Screamin Beagle Fat Bastard can only appeal at a distance to resourceful youth who can have an easier-to-maintain, more economical machine for little more than a song. you can tell by harley's commercials for their light twins they are trying to appeal to that urban youth demographic.

It may be a pig, but it's a pig with a rocket in it's ass!

My neighbor bought one of those screamin eagles
crunched it behind his rv
Cost $5k for a piece of fairing
Never rode it. It was like a trophy bike to most Harley parkers

Be interesting to see how they equip the new H2sx.
Maybe the optional side bags like the 1000
And call it a tourer?
supercharged or not, still tough to beat adding bags on a 14 and calling it a tourer
AND being able to ride 2 up

Lol.
Thats a classic statement.
You could substitute anything for "H2" and it would work.

You can tour on anything as long as it'll carry you and your stuff. Hell, people on honda MB5s went cross country on the damned things.

As a person who's done extensive long-distance riding on a ZX-14 with bags I can tell you it works but it's not ideal especially in the wind protection department. Being up in the breeze can be really tiring on 500+-mile days.

That's why I think if KHI wants to build a sport-tourer around the H2 platform, it should start out with decent wind protection. The ZX-14, despite multiple windscreen changes, is still breezy for a tall person.

It may be a pig, but it's a pig with a rocket in it's ass!

This will be interesting for sure. Making a tourer with a design that has terrible fuel economy as of today doesn't seem like a great move. I'm optimistic though, and the thought of a 2-up H2 is very appealing.

In Kawasaki's original release and patent notes, I remember reading somewhere that said they could basically improve fuel economy with the SC design. As of right now, that has not been the case.

The ZX14 with saddlebags is going to be very difficult to beat in this space.

New pics, with bags, taller screen. This looks doable. It's starting to kinda look like an updated Connie with some Ninja 1000 touches.

Some of the toys mentioned in the article would be great, but Kawi really needs to put Cruise Control on their next tourer. Not sure why they keep staying away from this.

The C-14 nose makes more sense than that bug scraper on the red concept. And they could make use of the parts bin.
