I worked on a ZX7 one time for a guy and had similar problems. Turns out the replacement fuel line was too long and got kinked shut when the tank was installed.

Thanks for the replies guys. I really don't think it's spinning the tire, although the power increase at high rpm is certainly impressive! And I agree, my "bowling balls" are due for replacement...
