It is always a must to change the oil and other fluid every time you buy a 2nd vehicle, the reason for this is to default all maintenance date so that you can back track all of it in the future. About changing the filter usually it goes together with the oil. All you need is a oil filter wrench no need to remove the exhaust headers. Good luck with it.

Be glad they aren't car headers you have to deal with...those can be a major PITA. Bike headers are a breeze.

Man $400 dollars for that oil change headers or not thats pure wallet rape.

I agree I would get the filter changed your going to have to sooner or later and better sooner. Once you dig into it youll find it is'nt that hard its even fun sometimes. Plus you'll be saving a crap load of money over time cause bikes always need service and love to break down on ya

I'll give you OK not to change filter every other oil change, if you:
1. Flush engine by ATF
2. Change filter

So I was thinking of rebuilding the motor.
If that doesn't correct the problem, probably replace all the fairings

So true, that's why I said "can be". Full lengths on my 80 z28 were a bit of a bitch.
