dm76yk1 | I know it's been 11 years, but does anybody have a current link or pics of the bike and engine change process from a guy in the Virgin Islands who put an 07 ZX10R engine in a 1990 ZX7? The link in the 2008 post doesn't lead to the correct website now. The 2008 post indicated that there were lots of pics showing the process and needed mods. I want to do the same thing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

Me too, but being a temp factory worker doesn't really put me into the "lets go blow $8000 for a bike" category.. I've been there for a year, I hear they will give you an interview after 2 years and I can stop handing part of my check to my pimp and spend it on a new bike. Until then its find a squids wrecked 10 and do the swap and turbo the bastid. Insure a 7 and ride a busa killer that's sweeter than any squids 10r his mommy bought him. Sent from Motorcycle.com App |

I think 04-10 engines are all pretty much the same externally. The first gens have taller first gear than the later years, and they made a little more power in the 08-10 models with higher compression pistons. |

Just for shitz n giggles, what is the best year/ model zx 10 engine to swap into this 95 zx7. Thoughts of using the single ram air to feed intercooler are coming to mind....need to know for future purchase, keeping my eye open on insurance auctions as I save up. Sent from Motorcycle.com App |

Yeah I'm pretty pissed. I bought this 7 before spring with 15k miles, spent a grand on it and popped the motor at 10k [email protected] 100 mph. Far left intake valves wadded up and shoved into the intake ports. As of this moment I am sold on a 10r swap, and I am considering getting an engine with a few more miles and cracking her open and putting low comp pistons in hone and or bore cylinders as needed and go turbo with taller gears. Code name: project Phoenix zx710 ... Now fitting everything under oem plastics to make it one wicked sleeper bike........the busakillah. I know someone is going to say cant be done so go ahead. Arctic cats use a turbo designed for a 900cc engine that I think would size up nicely. Saving cash now and putting a few toys up for sale to fund. Now I need to find myself a totaled out 10 on an insurance auction so I can have most of the goodies, tb's engine cdi harness etc. I assume to have these bikes handle decently with the new pp crank position and bore angles have to match the 7, create clearances where needed and fabricate and weld in new mounts, then begin turbo setup and fab. I think it could be done for less than an 8000$ busa... If it will all fit is another matter. Sent from Motorcycle.com App |

I think if I did it, I would still go with some zx9r carbs and a custom fiberglass airbox. I saw an 06 R1 once that was converted to run on FCR's and a dyna ignition. That was a cool bike. |

gsxrche | Thanks for posting the dimensions of the motors. Now I know that I can drop the idea of sliding in a 98-03 zx9r motor in a zx7r frame. All is not lost though ... the idea of a 770 or 779 kit with some balancing is just as interesting, and probably fewer issues as well. |

It really sounds like the market really sucks out there. |

Well besides, phuck it on me getting rid of my bike/motor!! I have had the ZX9R with absolutely perfect street fairings, even offering ZX10R swingarm and forks and the race motor for $3500 locally. I have not even got a hint of an offer (my offline version has a lot of swearing in it). I am putting the 06 ZX10R USD forks on there with an 08 ZX10R swingarm with the race motor and I guess I will make it my daily rider bitch. Hard to believe the lowballing antics that go on here on the west coast. I still have another 1999 998 big bore kit as a spare if anyone wants to build another. |

Here is a 99 ZX9R valve cover laying on top of the RR. About an inch too wide. ![]() |
