Advice Required

My 1998 GPZ1100 E2 starts fine, ticks over and runs to 4000rpm fine, but when I try to accelerate through 4000rpm it seems to suffer from fuel starvation. It will accelerate through if I open the choke fully.

We have cleaned the carbs the fuel tank and fuel tap.

Has anyone got any idea what else we could try.

If turning on the enrichener (choke) makes it run, it's definitely fuel starvation. Have you replaced the fuel filter? In-tank pumps can also clog from gas station debris. Check yours for output and whether it has a replaceable filter. Doesn't sound like the pump itself.

Not that familiar with the particular machine, but if it has a pressurized intake (ram air) the float pressure balance tubes that run from the carbs to the intakes in front can become clogged and cause running issues.

Also, the o-rings that seal the float bowls to the jet body are known to make problems when they go bad.

It may be a pig, but it's a pig with a rocket in it's ass!

For clarification the 90s gpz11 is side draft like the zrx. But 6 speed. My '96 topped out ~170 lacking the ram air.

But as for the running lean problem. Check ur jet sizes. Check ur needle heights. U can check for vacuum leaks using (flammable) brake/carb cleaner or even better MAP gas w a hose. When the MAP lights u can pull it away so it doesnt burn things..

If u figure it out n want it 2 run better. Get a 4-2-1 for a zx11D and pods and jets w a spark advancer. 😁😁 n keep track of ur oil level.. if u dont already know that..
