Crank bearing question?

Just got my replacement crank thanks to dirtyrottenninja and it looks good. My question is.. can I keep the bearings that are on it with the rods or do I need to replace them all? Also how should I go about replacing piston rings?

If the crank is stock spec on the journal sizing, and the mains look good/newish, just reuse the bearings. Take it easy on it for a while but they should be fine. I would also plasti-gauge it just to make sure you are within spec.

Can you tell what color plain bearings are on the crank journals? Measure the journals to see if they are still within spec for that bearing. Then look for on the case half for a mark. Use the service manual to index the correct bearing by two methods and see if they aggree;
Mark/no mark on crank vs mark/no mark on case
Journal tolerance vs crank tolerance
Both should index same bearing

Regarding rods, are you using rods that came with crank or your own? Anyway.... Process is the same.
Mark/no mark on the rods vs mark/no mark on crank
Rod big end id vs crank rod pin measurement
Both should index same measurement

Run towards loose end of the spectrum

I'm a noob and I'm having my mechanic friend help me do this job. All I know is that it's got the rods still attached with bearings and the rods move freely and smoothly. Idk what you mean by colors and markings? Were do I look to find these things? What do you mean by two method?

See this sample page from a Kawasaki race manual.
Read what I said again, see if this clears it up, then ask another question.

Do any of you guys know where the marks are on the zx11 case, crank and, rods so I can figure out what color code bearings? Kawi dealer says use blue for both main and rod bearings because like me they couldn't see any markings anywhere and according to the repair manual blue is the color code for "none none" for mark match up. I just would hate to be wrong.

Plastigauge each of the journals. Do not cheat and assume they are all the same as the first one you check.

I am hoping you will be replacing the crank main bearings. Even if the crank main bearings look good and are in spec to your journal diameter, I would replace them since they are going on a different setup.

PM that part numbers you need. I have a huge box of at least 200 Kawasaki bearings that I picked up with a bike a couple years ago. If I have them I will let you have them for a lot less than any of the online sites.

200 geez! I will plastigage and mic everything then match the readings to the closest color size and rest assured I'm replacing every bearing so I will more than likely PM you. How much do you want for them? I'm guessing if I go with the online prices il be looking at $200-222 for all of them.

Hey, wth didn't you tell me that. You know that I am building a motor, with pistons and rods that came from our deal. You know I need this and some have been discontinued. Where is the love.

Yes, you do know that I have a bunch of bearings. We checked and none are the right size for your build. They are from my ZX9R bike.

I figured by your name and the I Ride that it is an 11. I could still have the bearings you need. Let me know Kawi part numbers. They are all still in Kawi parts bags.

Ok so I got miked all the journals both rod and main and got 35.9892 for diameter now I need to know how to match the bearing with the crank and still have the right clearance? The bearing insert thicknesses are black 1.475-1.480mm
Blue 1.480-1.485mm and white 1.485-1.490mm for rods and for main bearings the insert thickness is brown 1.490-1.494mm black 1.494-1.498mm and blue 1.498-1.502mm I'm not re-using any bearings and am trying to figure out which ones to purchase.
