Would a dealer take it? just thinking about making a move and need to consider something.

Dealer would take just about anything especially if they're in to make money from you.

How old is the bike?
My dealer wouldn't take my 2005 in trade, too old.
Banks don't like to finance bikes more than 7 years old.
as far as damage, they have a pretty good eye for that crap.

Age doesn't matter so much up here in Ontario, but damage does. Dealers prefer to sell used bikes that can pass a safety check with little to no work needed. If they do take a bike with damage, they will offer significantly less as it will most likely be sold "as is" or go to auction. If trading in is the route you want to take, it may actually be more cost effective to repair it prior to trading it in.
