Help with 99 zx 900 dash

My digital temp display is not working. When I go to start the bike all the black bars show from blue to red. Once the bike is on the display goes blank and never registers temp. I have just replaced the Rad and thermo couopler because I was having fan issues witch I am in the process of fixing now. Ive checked the fuse box and all seem good there. So now what should I do besides buy a new dash?

If you Google "Used Motorcycle Parts" you'll find a website that links salvage yards across the nation. Enter your contact info and list the part # for the dash and if anyone has one, they'll email you a price. LCD displays are a layered construct and usually there's no repairing one when it decides it's had enough.

It may be a pig, but it's a pig with a rocket in it's ass!

Someone told me it might be the thermostat. Thats why the fan finally came on yesterday and never shut off till i restarted the bike and shut it off. I think Im gonna try the thermostat first then hard wire the fan. What do you think?

It's not the thermostat.
After an hour it would have cooled down enough for the switch to shut off.
It would have shut off after a few minutes

LED displays are either good or bad.
You can't fix them.
I'll stay positive and say that it sounds like a wiring issue since it lights up.
Go through and unplug all connectors and plug them back in.
Might want to remove gas tank and make sure there are no wires pinched.
Check all grounds from your battery and not just the main ground.
Electrical is tough to pinpoint especially when we don't know what may have been done to the bike.

Doing what you just said was mentioned to me as well. That just seems like it may be out of my league. Also earlier today while riding the bike it died on me. I went to restart the bike and once i put it in gear it just shut off.Turned it back on and put it into gear and died again. I got pissed and got off the bike to get my smokes out my back pack and noticed that the oil plug was almost completely unscrewed. I screwed it back in and started the bike and it went into gear and rode it the rest of they way home. Crazy cause I didnt mess with the plug. Must have vibrated loose. Like I said though, once I screwed it back in and tightened it up and rode fine.

I got a new oil filter and oil to do a change. The guy I got the bike from has had it sitting for a few years. I knew there was gonna be some issues but seems to be one after another. Also the back breaks dont work. I need to get a rebuild kit. How hard is that to do?
