Odd...I mean, if the clutch is worn slippage will happen in all gears higher than the one you first notice it in..and I can't see how it would be possible for just one to have the problem..unless of course it's teeth have been shorn away or engagement dogs rounded off.
Have you tried hard acceleration in 4th and higher, and if so, was 'slippage' noticed?

no slippage in any gear but 3rd. last time i drove it i did that in all gears to make sure it was only 3rd and it is only in 3rd gear.

Well i was having the same problem, so i took it to the shop. After they opened her up it was a disaster. Worn selector forks, 3rd gear was shot and 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th gears were gettin pretty bad also. Price tag $1800. Most of that was labor cost. So i wouldn't let it go for too long if i were you.

An output shaft could not cause this problem.. It must be one of the three things I pointed out..and my bet is 3/4 selector fork is bent..probably from being 'hammerd' on by a previous user.
In defense of the ZX9R, it's well known Kaw gearboxes are sturdy devices, when ridden by civilized beings having even the slightest trace of finesse'. Hard useage tipically does no harm, provided it's dished out by skilled rider. Of coures hamfisted creitans can destroy even the finest equipment is very short order...even a Kawa gearbox.

dude your talkin shite, its a well known issue that the gearbox on the c1 c2 is shite the engagment dogs only connect 1mm, once the circlips wear along with a few missed shifts, and kablamo 3 go's cooput, need to strip down the entire engine and replace the selector forks along with a modification to the pinions location, or you can throw a e box in, need any more info email me on tqsracing@gmail.com
