ZX9R Forks
I have a 2003 ZX9R in need of forks. From what I can find the '02-'03 seems to be different than '98-'01. Specifically, the brake calipers are different and subsequently have different mounts on the fork legs. Does anyone know for sure, if I can use an entire front end (tripple clamp, forks, wheel, brake calipers and rotors) from an earlier year on this bike? Or, would someone happen to have a good set of '02-'03 forks and bottom clamp for sale?
Thanks

I believe the forks are interchangeable..the difference in calipers was limited to suppliers. Of course this is NOT written in stone..but it's what I've been told by a local independent Kaw shop.
I will have a very tidy set of 1999 forks available in about a week...including both upper and lower clamps. Make an offer.

In '02 they went from 6 piston calipers to 4 piston. The mounts on the fork legs are completely different.

Im believe the calipers on the 02' Z1000 are the same as an 02' 9R. If someone will give me the lug spacing of their 92 ZX9R I'll do the comparison of mountung lug spacings for the two models.

What I really need to know is will an earlier model, say 2000, tripple clamp fit in the steering head of the '02 frame. If it will, that gives me the option to replace the whole front end. If I were to guess, I would think it would fit but I don't want to spend the money only to find out I guessed wrong.

Hi Jeff..Well, I've been told it should work fine...you might have to interchange stems from clamp to clamp though.
