sweet find i saw mine sitting out front at a yard sale been wrecked in the front, figured it was a sad sight (actually want even looking at a ninja) but really glad i bought it. have a lil over 3k in it now and worth every penny. incredibly fast, was fast stock.... love it and will probably never get rid of it even if I buy a newer bike in the near future!

i didnt actually pay that for it.. i paid the $1200 for a 94 gsxr 750 and found it slow in the first month, so i found a deal on the net at a place called slinger cycles selling a 98 9r for $2900, sold the gsxr for $2500 and offered to to slingers and he accepted. so i spun $1300 cash off the gsxr (free money) and put it to another bike! i have a blast doin that kinda stuff.

Can anyone tell me if it is worth upgrading the cc of my bike via a big bore kit as my bike is nearly nine years old or is it better to put the cash to a zx10r?

Debating on buying a 9R here is the hi thread? that I started and trying to get some ideas. This is copy and paste from thread:

Whats up everyone. New here for a few reasons but not an owner yet. With these tough times we face everyone knows its a buyers market on bikes.
That being said and being able to afford it and pay cash. I have run across a 01 zx9r with 15k miles and comes with a trailer (forget name not too classy but has a one man wheel chock in it and is fairly new) and some gear that I will have to sell due to nonfitment. Matching helmet and Joe Rocket Jacket.

Here is the only pic I have that is decent.

It will need fairings as all bikes do anymore and the right side slider bracket broke off due to falling and sliding down an incline. I did ride this bike and it is in near excellent condition minus ^ he even rode it about 2 blocks no hands to show straightness of bike.

This is a little bigger bike than I really want but might as well get it to have the power later anyway.

Price is 3500.00 for everything with clear titles on bike and trailer.

All my friends say yay even as a resale investment. That comes from 1 buddy who owns a boosted R1 and another with an 03 cbr 954.

Name is Jeff and hopefully gonna be around the search threads to learn up after purchase.

As far as upgrading, I would suggest looking threw the 9r forums ther is a thread on big bore kits.It really depends on how comfortable you are on 10r compared to your 9r.

Dang thats a good price also. I saw a few bikes on cycletrader that were like that. Decent bike for around 3g's. Just not sure if that is too good to be true or not????

I look forward to owning another bike though?? even if I have to store it in a storage shed for now since I am living out of a motel and have a work truck, pers. truck and about to go back and get my car this week. Then buy a bike??? fun stuff.

After shopping around quite a bit, I paid $2500 for my 2000 with 23,000 miles on it. It needed tires and a chain and sprockets real bad when I bought it so that added another $400. Oh yeah and I had to take it for one too many rides right away with the bald tire and spilled it,which cost me another $200 worth of parts and an ambulance ride ($800) and a broken collar bone. Got it all fixed up and I love it. I probably wouldn't sell for less than $5000, and I'm pretty sure no one would pay that, so it looks like I'll be keeping it.

Anyway that looks like a good bike for a good price and the trailer is a nice bonus too. BTW is it just me or is there something missing on the exhaust.

Yup it has a header and a tip haha its loud. He has the exhaust for it which will be put back on.
I know the feeling. It needs a back tire for sure, and fairings.
Figured for 3500.00 I could put about 6-700 into it. But I could sell the trailer for around that.
