hi, my 1999 c2 has a shift problem also. first thing to do is strip down and clean your gear selector as crap can build up behind it and make it stiff. if that doesnt work ive been told its probably a bent gear or fork or worn dogs which is a engine out job and lots of money. if you go down the road of a newer tranny the clutch push rod is longer and a bit modification will sort it. hope this is of some help, let me know how you get on
cheers john

Make sure you lube up all the pivot points on the shift linkage. It sounds a bit early for the dreaded tranny problems, but it won't hurt to start looking for one. I don't think if there are any differences between the 00/01's and 02/03's, but check an online microfiche to make sure (ronayers.com).
