Bad Battery????
I have a 1994 zx9r that I just got out og the shop which I had the carbs cleaned and spark plugs were changed since the bike had been sitting up for a while and was very hard to start. After doing the work the bike would crank only after the battery was charged to the point it was "boiling" they say (I actually saw it crank when they did this), but they said it would only hold a charge for about 20 minutes and I needed a new battery and once the new battery was in it would fire over with no problem. I tried jumping the old battery with a car once I brought it home but it would only crank and not turn over. I tested the battery with a volt meter after I brought it home and it was showing 12.9 volts which should be correct. Before I brought it into a shop this battery did sit for about a month in a discharged state, which I know can kill a battery. All the fuses have been checked and they are good. So can a battery be bad even though it is showing 12.9 volts?
