Oil filter removal help

Is there some trick to removing the oil filter, do you have to take the header pipes off?

Thanks

Does your oil filter protrude through the front of the bike between the headers for #2 & #3? Unless the bike has a new full exhaust system, the stock header should allow access to the exposed filter.

BTW, you should edit your profile to include that the bike you ride is a '96 zx9r. I will help pinpoint discussions relevant to your model. Hope this helps.

Yeah, I had a full Vance and Hines on my old bike and it required complete removal to access the filter and drain. Got rid of that bike. What a maintenance headache! And who ever thought up such a stupid design anyway? How would that work for race bikes?!

Not asking. Just venting.
