Cool Overbore

While I'm enjoing this zx9r this summer, I am considering an over bore kit to install this winter. There seems to be some limitations of what is available, but what I have found so far for the 97' b model is a Wiseco kit for $700.00; US dollars, everything included. This kit is a 2mm over at 13.0:1. JE offers 1mm over at 13.0:1. No price yet. The other one I found is a 998 for the 98-00; sleeveless I beleive for that one, but not applicable .

So my question to all you B series guru's is; are there any issues I'm not aware of? Crank issues; rod issues; you know, untimely explosions, any history from anyone out there?

As to the condition of my bike? Well, I picked it up this spring and, it has 35,000 km, It runs well, checked evrything I can check to date, without pulling the head, or block off. Obviously I should be ready to spend money align honing the rods and crank, new rod bolts etc. I just don't want to get into a billet crank or new rods if I don't have to. Or rather I won't.

Any input would be appreciated.

Oh; and why? My friend has a 98' R1; I need to kick his ass he he he.

i've only ever heard of big bore 900 kawas referred to as grenades. quite a few times and a sad way to see a 9 go.

It's a motor. Just pieces of metal, the same as any other engine ever built. Build what you like and take care of it, you'll be alright.

You shouldn't NEED billet parts, but of course stronger parts never hurt. Just make sure you use a good machinist and remember that you get what you pay for.
