I have a 98 9r and recently it has these ticks that increase with rpms. They're pretty loud. Any clue to what it is or do i need a whole new engine? thx!
I made a very similar thread asking the same question. Your 9r isn't the only one that makes this sound. Everyone says its just the valves ticking. If performance isnt hindered in any way id say your bike is just fine :) My 9r makes the same ticking sound and it hauls ass. I'm not worried about it one bit
my zx6r made a ticking sound and i thought it was fine then shortly after i had two valves drop

I'm afraid it might be the engine knocking but i've never experienced a "knocking" engine before so i have no idea. I've also realized there's some extra vibration around 5-6k rpms.... idk
