Miles per gallon and/or Miles per Tank?

i've got a 99 zx-9r, all stock with k&n filter and thats about it.

wondering what people get the the gallon, or Tank. when i first bought the bike, i was surprised on how much gas it uses. i ran out of gas! i made a wrong estimate on how much i had left.

what mods and what MPG/MPT do you get?

My '99 is averaging 38-39mpg, mostly highway, cruising between 80-90mph with more than a few high speed romps.
The bike has a 2000 ZX-9 header with a Yosh RS-3 pipe, Ivan's jet kit, block-off plates, K&N filter, and ignition advancer.
I fill up after about 150 miles.....I'll go into reserve at 155-160 miles.

I wanna say my 2001 gets 40 - 45ish its stock and i usually don't go much faster than the speed limit. The pain in this bike is that there is no fuel guage. best thing to do is set your odometer to zero every time you give it a full tank and figure out the average miles for 4 1/2 gallons or so. I made your same mistake when i first got the bike and ran outa gas :(

I almost ran out of gas the first week I had the ZX. My Yamaha had a low fuel light.........I miss that.

Talking 2001 Stock Zx9r

I have had my ZX9R for about 2 months. Bought it with 1100 miles on it and now have nearly 2300 miles. The engine seemed a little tight at first and mpg was about 42. Engine is now reving freely and mpg is 44-50 even with the mountains and altitude here in Utah.

2003 zx-9R 3500 miles on it just bought it with 1814 miles about 7 weeks ago, mine is getting 47-50 depending on cruising speeds, @ around 180 miles i have to switch to reserve and have road about 30 miles on reserve with no problems. mine is all stock with the exception of a muzzy stainless oval slip-on. this is a fantastic bike!!!

my 01 says it needs to have an octane rating of 90 or higher. I always run premium :)
