I'm looking at a 9r that is local and pretty cheap. The problem with the bike is that it doesnt run. I'm looking for my first sports bike and I dont think a 900cc motor would be the smartest idea. I've been riding a 250cc for a little over a year, but I want something a little bigger if I can find a deal.
So I'm wondering if I could swap in a 600cc motor into this zx9r? I've done a swap on my other bike and it was cake. I dont want to get this bike if I have to put another 900cc motor in it. Is there a big weight difference in the zx9r compared to the zx6? Should I just hold off on this bike?
First off, why doesnt it run? Motor blown or it just wont start? Second, an engine swap would be a waste of time and money. You've been riding a year already... you will be fine on the 9R if you keep some common sense in your right wrist. You can find complete ZX9B engines on ebay cheap and it would be bolt in. Third, 94-97 models are big and heavy. A 600 in one would be fairly disapointing.
