Brakes

Hi everyone,

I have just bought a ZX9R 1999 on Friday after not having a bike for 2 ½ years and what fantastic weather we had at the weekend to get back into riding again.

I’m so pleased with my purchase as this bike is so much better than my previous Suzuki TL1000R.

But I seem to have a very annoying noise that has just started after using the bike for approx 150 miles, it sounds like when you have a stone stuck in the tyre.

I have done the obvious and checked the front tyre for stones but what I have noticed is that when you apply the front brake the noise stops, until you release it.

The bike had been standing for a while in the owner’s garage approx 6 – 8 months.

I’m no mechanic but could this be the front callipers not releasing fully, the bike has braded hoses and the brakes work very well without any judder.

As there is only a side stand and not having a front paddock stand I’m unable to spin the front wheel for further investigation.

Thanks
Ian

Also how to you find out if there are any private mechanics in my area (White Colne, Colchester, Essex)
