Wheres the love

It seems to me that the zx9 gets no love what so ever. Not only are there very few owners but there arent that many forums as well. I have respect for all bikers but the 1000cc bikes are starting to piss me off. I need to make up that horse power difference bad. Whats the best way? power commander? jet kit? I think the difference in hp is only by 15 or 20 but I unfortunatley weigh more then most as well. Round 220 so im at a disadvantage already. Although I must say even though i get smoked by the new 1000 cc bikes off role I can keep up in a drag race and I show them up by passin on one wheel

Age old philosophy... if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. buy a Litre bike.

yep no replacement for displacement. You need to go and race some 600cc bikes to make you feel better. Learn to ride more than just straigt roads and smoke them on the track or twisties.......... Also ride to have fun not be the fastest because you will NEVER be the fastest out there.

i definatley can ride more then straight roads. im one of the better ones out here as well as in standups and sit downs. im not a fuckin noob. i just wanted to know if there is an easy way to make it faster in a straight line. since we all have the same bikes. beating 600 cc is gay and i do it all day. and im right there with most liter bikes but a bike lenght behind. its not like a i need much. if i have more hp i when period.

ok flex your internet balls and when you are done you can learn something. i wasnt referring to you as a noob i was saying that there is more to ridning than just racing. Read the first part of my reply and that should be about all.

Internet balls huh.... once again your snyde remarks are very pointless. what made you think in the first place that i only go in a straight line? I didnt say thats all i did, you made an asslike assumption so i corrected you.
"no replacement for displacement" yeah right man thats crazy. then how can a jetted zx7 with a power commander tie with a R1 at the track. top speed doesnt change, but how fast you can get to that speed does. This is a zx9r section so if you dont have anything encouraging to say about the nine then you need to say nothing at all. do you even have a nine? ......if not then wtf would you know about how close i am to beating a liter bike? so ummm yeah that will be bout all.

wow a little pissed about the litres beating you still. I dont need a 9 and like i said no replacement for dissplacement. You may not believe it but that is the truth no matter what your story is. this is a zx forums and yes i can reply as much as i need so bout it until you feel better. I am not on this forum to argue bro so you should cool down because out of all the kawasaki forums you are not going to find one with better guys than this one.

ok man thats cool....my bad...im just bicthin cause it sucks losing in a race to a gsxr for money by 4 ft. id much rather get stomped. but i am curious...as for the dissplacement. the displacment for the r1 is 1/9th bigger then the 9. do you really mean to say no matter wat i cant beat a bike with better dissplacment?

no because the rider is huge factor in any race, but you knew that i am sure. I am just saying that with the same mods you do any other person can do and if you put the new pc3 on you ride and the 1000 puts the pc3 then of course that just cancelled out your edge in the race. I can understand the being beat by a god damn suzuki makes you want to fall on a knife but if you are racing a 1000 it is a 1000 and you are a 9 nothing is changing that. If you want some serious horse then you will pay some serious money for it. Turbos, bore kits, but i would start of (ass like assuption again) with aftermarket pipe, chain conversion, PC, jetted kits help i know because i have one but any weight will help even if you are 2+ lbs. Good luck and keep searching this thread because someone has the answer you need. I hope this helps but like you said i dont own a 9 so maybe i am just firing from the hip. Where i ride if we ever race it is just for fun and i usually dont win take offs because my bike is carburated and all i seem to ride with are fuel injected.

An extra 15-20 HP out of a 900cc motor is no small feat. Power commander, jet kit, and exhaust are not going to get it for you. I would look into having some head work done. A port job and a set of race cams would be a really good start. T

Ok, this is outrageous, usually don't respond to this, but some seriously low stuff was said. And Ronin, this will get deleted is if you erase you're inappropriate responses, I will do the same.

First of all Ronin, if you're not a "fuckin noob", then why don't you know that there is no such thing as fuel injected 9R, none! So how exactly do "power commanders" work? A "fuckin noob" wouldn't know that a jet kit and pcIII are mutually exclusive items. And the horsepower disparity between the newest 9's and most any literbike ranges from 10-30ish HP, but that's not the big deal, the big deal is the weight. How much weight (among other things) is cut and where it goes is what separates a relative pig from the leaner, more refined literbikes.

Don't talk trash on someone else who offers advice, especially if it's because they ride a 7R, that just makes you a hypocrite, especially in the context of this post. I wonder what the literbike guys think when they beat you, an "non-noob", probably something like "beating 900 cc is gay and i do it all day". You smartass remark to 92zx-7 was off base, as you made it very clear you were talking about drag racing, and it's awesome you can do standups AND sitdowns! Damn!!! The displacement of an R1 is 1/10th bigger, yes, a 9 can beat a literbike in a drag race, and it show your how smart you are (pinches cheeks) when you point out that a "jetted zx7 with a power commander tie with a R1 at the track". And yes, top speed usually does change when you jet a bike using a PCIII (lol), and I think 92zx-7 rides a 1992 ZX-7, just like his picture and "I Ride" says, so no, he probably doesn't understand you, and neither does anyone else... go cry emo kid.

On a more positive and appropriate note!, the simple solution to your problem is a dry nitrous kit, it will put the right kind of power where you need it, and even a noob like yourself can install one.

Also look into quickshifters, extended swingarms, stickier tires, and changing your brakelight fluid. That last one should net you 5-7HP on the top end. Drag racer.

Well put mr. Bluesteiner,

but of course i must reply but this is still on a kind note as before.(in which i apologized for my outburst) perhaps you missed that....but thats ok. when i spoke of being a noob i wasnt speaking on what i know about bikes, or what i know about upgrading them. i was soley speaking on my riding abilty.

" Learn to ride more than just straigt roads and smoke them on the track or twisties" -ridn92zx-7

I am definatley a better rider then that, which is where the wheelie comments came from. If i already knew what to do (for upgrades) I wouldnt be on a zx forum asking questions now would I.

"Don't talk trash on someone else who offers advice, especially if it's because they ride a 7R" Bluesteiner-

your absolutley right...i have love for all zx bikes but..(of course) that was definatley a comment that was said in retaliation in an argument that had no base in the first place. Many people on this forum including myself have other bikes. So although your comment about "his name"sounds funny and is a good applause comment,it still doesnt mean much. I was under the impression that a zx9 section would actually have zx9 owners. But i guess this forum doesnt wrk like the others. my opening comment was not ment for everyone, which is why i put it here. i did not know however that everyone would reply. but i digress.....longer swingarm is coming but i didnt think of a quick shifter....thankyou. That actually seems to be part of the problem. when you say quick shift is that the same as air shifter? and that last one that you spoke of that adds 5 hp. dont mean to sound stupid but was that about the brake fluid? you have to break it down for us NOOBS, cause i dont get it.

Would getting it "bored out" a bit be enough?

Overboring or stroking a 9 is a bad idea, pretty much every story I've heard involving that ends in serious mechanical failure. I've heard hi-comp pistons and gaskets are OK, but where you can find them for a 9... ? Another problem with the 900. Parts are a bitch to find.

In reference to the air shifter VS quick shifter, it depends on what kind of riding you do. If you're moving to strictly drag race, then go with an air shifter, but if you plan on track (or street?!) racing, go with a quick shifter. A matter of weight and convenience. The air shifter is (relatively) big and heavy, but turns your bike into an "automatic", shifting at the push of a button or at a set rpm, the downside being adding the mechanicals to do the shifting for you (weight! cost! + it's boring imo!). The quick shifter is (simply put) a little sensor that cuts spark for a fraction of a secong as you begin to apply pressure to the peg, making for a quick shift. Depends on you're needs, also, quick shifter are MUCH cheaper, as the most expensive cost less than the cheapest a
