Talking 2001 zx9r, need advice / parts

Hey guys i just got my bike last week. Its a 2001 zx-9r and it has about 24k miles on it. Runs pretty well, not that many aftermarket performance parts, just integrated tailights, cruise control, and some california pipe with a cat in it.

Please bare with me, its a long thread, due to me being new to this bike.

Questions:
1)There is a switch on the left side under my left handlebar that leads to a dead wire (not connected). What does that do? im kind-of concerned!!

2) What temp should it run at? It generally runs between 170-190degrees F, but the other night it was over 210 and the water-coolant was boiling (literally). doesnt seem good.

3)Although i hate to make a fool of myself for not browsing all the threads that recommend exhausts, ive been doing my own research and not that many companies have exhaust for 01 zx9r's. I was looking at micron slip-on... opinions?

Parts:
The bike was dropped before i purchased it on the right side, i have the main right fairing already to replace the scuffed one, but can i get the exact names of the small black peices and or all the names of the fairings so i can replace them?

Basically need a whole new right side, its pretty bad.

-thanks!!

Check out bikebandit.com they have full parts schematics which should help ya with the fairings. As for the wire its difficult to tell without seeing it. Id recommend getting a service manual that has wiring diagrams. Im not sure bout the temp on that bike but if its boiling at 210 Id flush it and refill it with a 50/50 water/coolant mix.

I have the muzzy on mine also and it sounds great. cruise control is basically a friction lock that holds the throttle in place. Ive never actually seen one but Ive heard of a lot cruisers that have em and some stunters that use em.

heres my cruise control. basically just twists as chrisb was saying to hold the throttle in place, and switch it back to release.

i havent used it yet, but i bet on long straight rodes that your trying to keep good mileage on its useful, along with other purposes ;)

Also, i found out the switch under my left handlebar was a switch for an LED light that was suppose to light up my tire... Not sure how it works with my integrated tail lights... but whatever. haha

the fans on my 2000 zx9 dont kick on til about 210-212... i worry once it reaches somewhere around 218... the vin sticker on the frame usually tells you the model... mine says zx900-e1... and ive run only muzzy pipes and i love them!
