I always thought both lights came on together, high or low, on the 7R.. . I'd check the headlight relays..
On another note..does the Siberian in your avitar live with you? I share my house with one..Yukon 'Bill'...my 5th .

He's great looking. My Bill is silver/black/white too...but Steel's mask is, I hate to admit, much nicer.
About the relays...usually under the seat or inside the upper fairing. I don't have service manual for the 7R, but those are the two places Kawa usually hide relays. I can ring someone who'll know if you don't find them in either of those places... Just get back, and let me know.

i personally think his mask was actually nicer when he was younger but, you know how it goes, he has been driving me nuts lately dont know what it is, i want to get him fixed but i got full registration on him, i dont know yet
as for the relays i bought the owners manual and just waiting for it to come in, i'll check in there to find the actual relays then i'll let you know, i dont know if it makes a difference but it is a zx-7 not a zx-7r

Sometimes, its the switch on the handlebar that tends to play up and needs to be opened out and cleaned.
Nice dawg btw !!

Hey Slip..I guess he's your first Siberian, right? Bill is my 5th. Anyway..be prepared. The serious 'asshole' stage lasts until about 3..IF he's not an Alpha. And if he is indeed a true alpha, you can expect to be dealing with it until 10 or so...maybe longer. My 2nd male was a 'super alpha'...unbelievably dominant with other dogs right up until 12, when he suddenly relaxed. If you neuter 'Steel' now it will reduce your stress [ as well as legal entanglements and lawsuits ] in the coming years..expect 6 months for the hormones to completely disappear and a 'mellowing' to begin showing
True..they all seem to have really great masks as puppies..sadly most completely disappear by the time they reach their first birthday. Consider yourself lucky Steel still has his..
I'm pretty sure all Kaws of that vintage had both lamps on, high or low.
And a Happy Birthday to Mr. Steel.

Hey Slip... on the 7R, both headlights are supposed to be on while on low, or on high.
It wasn't until recently that they started making the one is low, one is high model, which really pisses me off by the way... .because I always have to listen to chicks and guys who know 0 about bikes telling me "Do you know you have a headlight out??" If I hear that one more time I'm gonna.... well anyway.
I have a disk copy of a 7R manual, and you can poke Beans because I sent it to him for him to post it here... but he's always too busy (but never too busy to ask BlackBerry questions ... are ya Beansy??).
Either way.. or PM me and I can try and walk you through it. Sounds like a Hi-Beam relay to me... or the switch...
Anyway, let me know if you need some help... and let's see how long it takes for Beans to find me trashing him out inside a thread.

Slip..so you've got multiples! Fantastic photos!
I lived with three..the super alpha [silver/white], a blonde/white female aplha and her half sister,a red/white beta. Both were grand nieces of 'Kodiac Jack McCoy', my super alpha.
'Kody' displayed the same attitude with kids..he dominated them until they reached their teens and was an absolute tyrant with the 'girls'...even 'Senna', the alpha female. Those were the days..plenty of husky 'talk' going on.. almost constantly.
And Resolution...I share the pain your'e having with the escapee. 'Kody' came into our lives when we lived in Vermont...around 04:00 the bastard would unlock and open our french doors..in -40c/f temps mind you.. to go off and murder chickens, sheep, deer, beaver and who knows what else..even tried porcupines at least 4 times that I can remember. We spent 4,000 1998 bucks having 3 acres done with 'Invisible Fence'..what a joke that was. It took him just one day to establish the perimeter..then 'tough it out' and spring through..giving a monster howl as he boogied down the road, off to make his bloody rounds.
When the ratfuck returned home at nightfall, he'd come right up to the point where he knew the shock would be delivered..then howl for us to turn the power off so he could come home. Bastard..I really miss him. A massive stroke ended his life at 13.5 years..just as one ended his grand niece red 'Juneau Jill McCoy's' at 12.5.
Anyway..sorry for the hijack all. Only those who've had the sometimes dubious good fortune of having a Siberian share their lives know of what we speak.
And yes Slip..I'd have to agree with Swoosh, it's most likely the relay.

yeah mine is a escape artist but he hasnt gotten off the runner thank god if he hasnt yet i doubt he will since he is used to it, i had a huge dog kennel but he would just keep breaking the god damn fence and getting out, as for invisible fences, they are worthless to a husky, as husky owners know, these dogs are the toughest, they can withstand the pain of the shock collar, and to those who have never owned a husky and think they are not that tough....these dogs are bred to run 100 miles a day in 40 degrees below with 7 of their best friends i yet to see a dog to have that much endurance owning one of these is literally like having a new child in the house, these are not lazy dogs(if you want to lose weight, good dog to have)....but at least steel realizes and understands i am the alpha
