This one is the easy one. You should see what I am doing to my Yamaha (Frankenstein bike - FZR, YZF, R1, R6). Should be 160 to the tire easy and super light.

I have been very fortunate out here in California. There are tons of these ZX7s around here. I picked up one last night and will get another at the end of the week. I have had a dozen or so of them go through my hands over the last year. Most had really nice stuff like FCRs, shocks, wheels, etc. I take off the good stuff to put on the shelf, put stock stuff back on from others that I picked up, clean them up and sell them for more than I bought them for originally. I have got to the point that I can have a completely disassembled bike on the ground in pieces to riding it in two days if the parts are relatively clean.

You got to do the EFI thing! If you get it done and working right, there are a ton of us out here that would love to do it as well. I can't wait until your finished and can post some specs on this bike.

I will do it on one of my bikes. I just wish I could fit the later ZX9 head on the early ZX7 cylinders. They come with coil on plug, which would make it easier. I am planning to use Extrudabody throttle bodies with Autronic computer. I will use a 4:1 header to make the O2 sensor work better (and closer to the cylinders). I then with take the airbox from Airtech (real ram air on a 95!) and mod it to work with my throttle bodies. The wasted spark coils on the ZX7 will work, but we all know how hot they get having to work twice as much as they need to. Another thought is to use four of them, but damn they are big. I have already done this on my drag car with a custom EFI, so at least I have a starting point.

whew...love the EFI Extrudabody deal but big bucks! Looks like a quick way to spend a couple grand!
I have thought....and only thought...about morphing EFI from another bike.

I haven't posted the Yamaha anywhere but here. It is close to putting together. Frame, footpegs, brackets are back from the anodizing shop, triples are at the machine shop to build a new, custom stem, engine is at the shop getting the bottom end swapped to get a 6-speed bottom. Forks, shock, damper, tank and fairings are ready to go. Only things left are finishing a new harness that I started, making some spacers for the FZR750 swingarm to the R6 wheel and making the Brembo caliper fit the brake bracket. Want to get it done for a track day at Buttonwillow in about a month.

For those that have not seen a Muzzy linkage, here is one of mine. I confirmed with another racer that bought his direct from Muzzy in the day that this is the "all track" version. It is a steeper angle that the stock one in front. Both sides are longer than stock, with the shock side have an even longer setup. I am thinking about making a couple of these since I plan on keeping three to four ZX7s long term (two in race trim and two in street trim) unless I find that illusive N model I have been looking for.

Here is the pic. The stock in front, Muzzy in back:

Trying out the 09 ZX10R swingarm in the M frame. I have a standard 95 frame in front of it with a matching swingarm. I am planning to make new plates for the side to match the 09 swingarm bolt of 20mm (stock ZX7R is 25mm). Knowing me I will make a few sets with different swingarm heights to play with at the track. As you can see in the pic, the 09 swingarm is 15mm longer than the 94 swingarm. Since my big bore ZX9 motor going in this will have a bunch more power, this should slow the tendency to wheelie. I just hope it does not mess up the dimensions benefit of the Muzzy linkage. I will also try this with my other Muzzy linkage that is track specific (although I cannot figure out what track). I will have to make spacers for the Dymag wheel and get new bearings. The ZX10R axle is only 20mm.

Here are a couple pics. 95 L in front, 94 M in the rear with 09 ZX10R swingarm:

The 09 ZX10R front end threw me a curve ball. Kawasaki changed the fork to pivot a few mm closer to the frame. Plus the top triple bolts on like I have not seen from Kawasaki. They are using a bolt to hold the top triple clamp on instead of a nut. I had planned to use a 636 upper triple like my other race bike has that is using an 06 ZX10R lower triple and forks. It looks like I will have to find an 09 upper and bolt from a new ZX10R. Fortunately Kawi is still using the same stem dimensions, so my bearings still work!

First pic shows the 09 ZX10R at the bottom, 06 ZX10r triple in the middle and ZX7 on top.

Bottom pic is a fuzzy pic of the 09 ZX10R forks. I need new bearings for the Dymag in the front also. 20mm axle.

I am dying to see the pics but all I get is a red X in a box. Anyone know how to fix this? Computers aren't my strong suit!

Been busy hoarding as many of these as I can. Picked up four ZX7s last week and picking up four more this week. Two of the eight are 92 K model ZX7R bikes. I have been working on this build and taking pics. Just not got much up here. I will try to this week.
