Welcome to the forum. And just about any bike will last a long, long time if you take care of it.

I had a zx7r for a few years it was the p6 model, and it was a excellent machine, a bit heavy compaired to todays standards but stiil a capable machine, I may be wrong, but as far as I know the model never change through out the zx7r so this means kawasaki got it right first time, if I remember well the engine was noisey at the top end but this was normal for the zx7r, just change your oil and filter every year regardless of mileage and use a good semi 10/40 then you can afford to change every 2,500 miles or so! just ride the bike and have fun!!!!

Welcome!
Aside from routine maintenance keep those carbs clean and you should be good to go.

Welcome Rodan!
Where abouts in Montreal are you?... Im about 25 min west of cornwall... so about 1 hour 20 min on a good day to montreal :P
You've got a great bike to start with... heavy enough you wont go fairing over tail if you crank on it and she sits well in the corners because of its weight.
If you have any problems guys on here are more then happy to tell you what you need and how to do it (they have been right everytime ive had a problem)

the models did change the 95 bodystyle and pre is different than the 96-03. and your right about valvetrain operation is quite noisey even perfectly adjusted however if its rele noisey you will need a valve adjustment

As far as I know they only changed the colour and the body work on the p1 to the p7 model, but am sure some die hard fans will tell us if thats wrong, anyway this as brought some memorys back for me, I had the p6 model for a few years and enjoyed every time I went for a blast on it, it was a bit overweight and some would say "past it sell by date" compaired to the more modern 750s of its day and was out classed by the smaller modern 600s of its day, but the zx7r was a brillant bike in its day and the handeling was excellent defo wish I had kept mine I sold my 2002 p6 model when it was 6 years old in june 2008 it was original standard p6 model in showroom condition with 10,200 miles on the clock traded it in for a zzr1400 and got £3,000 for it, the book price at the time was £2,400 the kawasaki dealer said he could sell the zx7rs all day and was 100% sure he would get at least £3,250 for low mileage showroom condition ones, I deliverd the zx7r and collected the 14 on the saturday morning the dealer phoned me on the tuesday to say the zx7r was sold awaiting collection he had advitised it in on his website and it was bought over the phone for £3,495, even now a good low mileage original zx7r 2002 p6 or 2003 p7 model is still fetching £3,000 thats if you can find one! wish I had kept mine

Well, back then it was badass. Nothing to be embarrassed about there. If you were the hottest thing on legs when your highschool yearbook was printed, who cares what your kids think about the hair and clothes?
Also, welcome Rodan. If the bike in your avatar is yours, I'm definitely looking forward to some bigger pics! I love those old sevens, great bikes. Classic.
