Jet Kit Question

I ran some searches but couldn't find this so I'll ask:What's the difference between a stage 1,2,3 and 4 jet kit?

Along with that, what's the best way to tell which one I have?I know it's jetted,I just don't know to what extent.

Did the old owner say it was jetted?
If you pull the float bowls off you'll be able to see the main jets. The name of the jet kit Co. is usually stamped on the jets themselves ie:factory pro or dynojet along with jet#130 or 142 etc....
Then if you look at the needles themselves, they will have a # stamped on them.

With that info you should be able to contact the kit manufacturer and find out which kit you have installed in your bike.
The higher the stage # usually means a more performance or race oriented kit. Noting whether your bike has the original air box or has individual filters, exhaust Stock or aftermarket will help the manufacturer out too.

hope that gets you headed in the right direction.

I've had the carbs apart before,I think the jet kit is Dynojet. There's a Dynojet sticker on thr bike from the previous owner and he said it had been jetted. My jet needle has an adjustable clip position,I did notice some numbers stamped on various components when I had it apart but didn't pay attention to them...I'm panning on giving my carbs a thorough cleaning this winter,I'll double check that stuff then.

Thanks motocon.
