What do you think about two cameras/screens?
I am not a fan of how mirrors look on bikes. It gives them a bug/alien kinda feel to me and I want to do something different with it. I want to run screens and cameras and thought about running two of each, one that points a little to the right and one that points a little to the left, and then coordinating screens. Then I want to make a nice bracket/caseing for the screens that can bolt into the mirror bolts so it's reversible, but is also very curvy, like how they fiberglass dashes or speaker bokes. small 3" screens that stick out from around the mirror position.
I know it would look sick (if you understand my vision, lol), but how would running all this effect the power that the bike makes? Do you think it would pull to much power?

there were a couple threads where guys put cameras on. I thought it was a great idea. I find myself trying to look at both mirrors. If you could get a wideview from one screen, it would solve the problem of looking left and right and trying to see what's in the middle.

Now now supra, it's for practicality big guy lol... I don't like the mirrors, but don't like not haveing SOMETHING there to see with. And the technique of looking over your shoulder, which I do every time AFTER I look in my mirrors, is not even remotly close to answering my question, so thanks for the opinion, but no thanks for the disdain that came with it.
The way I want it, all the equipment can be removed and everything put back to stock with bolts... Wish I had a pic of something like it for you guys to see what I mean, but I've never seen anything like what I'm trying to explain :/
The info I am looking for though is if it would be possible to run two smaller screens instead of one big one and two cameras. I'm sure the two screen would be good since they're smaller, but adding a second camera might be a little to much maybe? The idea of a wide veiw is a good idea too, and could cut it back down to one screen. But then where could I mount it thats out of the way. I have tried to youtube a 7r with a camera to see where they would mount it, but NOBODY seems to do this to theirs lol. I definately don't want a big screen though, just something that will give me some coverage on my 6.
Please, just relevant info on the elecrical current or opinions on mounting, etc...

i have actually seen a mod like this done before and it is simply amazing i am thinking of doing the same myself. the guy basically must mounted 1 small wide angle camera straight under the rear seat and had a screen mounted behind his gauges. if i can find anything about it i will post it up.

I would start by figuring out the output of your charging system. figure how many amps it makes and how many it needs to run. From this I think you'll then know how much power you have left over to run equipment with. Then start looking at the components you want to buy. See what kind of power it takes to run them and if you're making enough. That will be the hard part, getting 2 cameras and 2 screens running off the excess amps your bike is putting out (and bikes don't put out much, which may require you to scale back the plan to one camera and one screen). If you can power it, then mounting and configuration will be the easy part.

1 fish-eyed cam in the tail of the bike. Screen mounted on triples, next to the gauges or glassed into the tank cover. I've seen it on a lot of bikes and worked pretty well. You still have to glance over your shoulder to check the blind spots but everyone does that anyway.

Yep, gonna go with the fisheye... Don't know why I didn't think of it lol... I def don't wanna go glassing the tank. I've seen that too, but like I said , I want it fairly simple and easily removable. I felt that two small screens would have been easier to make small encasements for but If I can get one to fit nicely under my windscreen I would prefer that.
So the plan this winter is the "mirror" camera system, frame sliders, cleaning of carbs, repolishing/cleaning up the frame/everything, and if it's inthe budget to respray the candy and the buttons on my seat are extremely uncomfortable after 30-40 min, so I think I'm gonna go with black ostrich... really like a texture on the seats/ram air covers...
I like a little bling lol
Thanks forall thi tips guys! I'll post a thread when I get started here in the next couple weeks!

Just remember, unless you have a lens that reverses the image, you'll be getting the view you would get if you could twist your neck aroung 90 deg. rather than a mirror view. What you see on the right side of the screen will actually be the view over your left shoulder. If plates of following vehicles read as normal, it's a true image rather than a mirror image.

Yeah you have to get a "rear" view camera, not a standard.

Awesome, I've been searching "rear veiw" camera's so i think it would be okay, but you never know, somebody could just say "rearveiw" and it isn't true... I'll be sure to double check that! Thanks!

I will save you some money...
I agree with Supra.
If you dont like the mirrors like myself then cap them off. Try a set of low profile bar mirrors... you can check your blind and mirror all in one quick motion... or dont run mirrors at all (which is next season for me)

It's some a/v cables and power and ground wires... very simple. Guys run these things all the time with no prob. And I always try and angle the mirrors to still see behind me because I like to see that portion. It's gonna be a smallerscreen and you can get the camera's for a good deal too if you look around a bit. It also comes down to my interest in this sort of project. I wanna try it out and see what it's about really. It's kinda like genesis's build.... Does he need a Duck body? No... But it sure is badASS! lol... I'm sure I can get a really decent setup for under $100, which is really not that much compared to some of the other things we brake our pockets for haha! And it can always be reversed and I can make myself a nanny cam or somethin, lol... My house has been broken into twice!
I'm gonna try and start all my little porjects here really soon and make a thread for you guys to check out!

Be careful with the cheap cameras. I bought a cheap back up camera for the RV. It works but the picture isn't the best and the sound already went out. I also bought some cheap cameras for the home. I wanted to make a trial and error before spending serious money. The cameras are all sitting in the closet, they suck.
I would make sure they are somewhat vibration resistant. Also think of where the camera lense is mounted. If it's going to bounce around like on the tail, it would be like trying to watch a home movie with someone not holding the camera steady.

Great tip man... I am DEF gonna make sure it's a really nice and tight fit when I put it in. I dont think I'll really need the sound aspect of it, lol, but do you have a suggestion on what might be a good vibration resistant one or a link?
Thanks!

Crap, now I have to think.
let me do some searching. Maybe Easy Measy has a camera? I know I asked about the camera that I saw on his bike and by the time I looked up the camera and the monitor, it was over $300.
I'll get back to you.

You might be onto something. If you can get the picture IN the mirror like they do with their turn signals
