WTH..lol.. zx750-fe in my 90' zx7-h1?

I recall reading a thread on someones zx7 regarding the model type. It prompted me to take a closer look at mine. To be honest I didnt even know what type it really was, i assumed it was just a zx750 as the PO told me. I did gaze at the PS before i bought it but anyways...

I registered at kawasaki.com and did the my ride info and it told me i had a 1990 zx7 H1.. If I have a 90' would it be an H2? That made me check the frame sticker and it verified Zx7 H1 made in March of 90'.

Upon reviewing the PS again i notice the engine #. Its a zx750 FE.. Ive been scouring the net looking for info on the motor. All i came up with was a turbo engine but im hoping the more experienced zx7 heads can give me a heads up

H1 is the model # of the bike for that year, (even though it should be H2 for 90, it may have been a leftover or an early 90 model) Engine codes span several model years and sometimes appear in different model bikes. Kawasaki made the FE motor from 1987 to 1990, that motor came in the F model zx750's & H model ZXR750's. I believe the GPz 750 Turbo was an EE model. You need to buy parts for the Bike model you have ZXR750H1 since they all have the same engine, so the answer to your other question is no it doesn't have any more power since all H bikes have the FE model engine.

The 89-H1 and 90-H2 motors are very similar.
I believe the head and cams are different. The H2 has the H1 race kit basically. The H1 aslo has smaller carbs (36mm)
You can tell the difference by the oil coolers and the oil filter.
The H1 has an ext oil filter that screws into the bottom of the oil cooler.
The H2 has a filter that drops out of the oil pan.

That should tell you right away w/o having to tear anything apart....

89 zx H1 Track bike that I built last winter.
Polished frame, ported head,K&N filter, factory pro jet kit,Stock header with Supertrapp exhaust, frame sliders,Dunlop Ntech scrubs front and rear.
It's a blast to flog around the track....

The 89 also has a braced swingarm and the 90 doesn't.
