new 1988 ZX750 owner. few questions????

i bought my bike from a guy that had it sit for 10 yrs. I think I need to clean out the tank and coat it. I was wondering if there is a good salvage yard where I can pick up some good parts for my bike. If I go with individual air filters, what will that do?? Also, a mechanic told me I would have to have my carbs synced often, is that so or is he trying to get money out of me?

Well for sitting 10yr it wouldn't be a bad idea the have them synced. But if it starts, runs, and rev's fine you don't really need it. I'd just clean the carbs and do a complete tune up. (oil, plugs, air filter)
