Here's a link to a thread dealing with that issue.

http://www.zxforums.com/forums/zx-7r...-7r-rider.html

It was with my bike, the first response I got (from Supra)contained several troubleshooting tips and diagnosing a faulty fan switch is in there. It's simple, all you need is a pot with water in it and a multimeter or ohmeter.

If your switch is bad you could replace it or do what I did and bypass it with a manual switch, nice for warm weather.

Talking

most bikes have 2 temp sensors..one for the guage and one for fan..find the one for the fan, it should have 2 wires attached, un plug and jump the switch..if the fan comes on you know the switch is bad...also you might want to check the rssistance for the switch..you'll need a d.v.o.m. to do so and resistance through the switch changes with temp...
if you have a repair manual for your bike it will tell you the values at at what deg's. it should be..

all that was in the previous link...but all directions are bike specific.

limebob, most bikes dont have 2 sensors, they have 1 sensor for the gauge and a temp SWITCH for the fan. the switch works the exact same way the thermostat works. when the temp gets high enough, the shaft moves and makes contact between the 2 poles
