Newbie lookin' to get up to speed

Hello all! Just trying to keep from asking redundant questions about mods and what not... Any special forums set up for FAQ's?? Any simple things for mods I have overlooked?? If money is available I look for some much needed maintenance and some small upgrades this winter.

Thanks in advance

Matt

OK, I guess it would have helped if I told you where I stand right now.

Best bolt on mods to date have been some tire up grades with -1/+3 gearing. I went with Michelin Pilot Powers. I have considered going to a 190/55 rear but commute to much and worry about premature center tire wear.

I removed the smog emissions but now have to reconfigure on how to pressurize my float bowls to hook the ram air back up. Any input will be appreciated!

I have a used rear shock to be rebuilt and change front fork oils. Any suggestions? Also looking for a decent set up. Any suggestions on sag or how far to set the forks through the triple clamps or how high to set the adjustable nut on the rear shock?

As far as down the road upgrades? Has anyone had any success on the 850 big bore kit similar to the Muzzy Raptor? Or is the ZX9 "P" motor the way to go?

Any suggestions on a tool to aid in adjusting the headlamps? Mine are horribly out of adjustment!!

Also looking to change brake pads over winter. Any suggestions?

Also looking to rejet the carbs. What works best?

Any other trial and error things anyone has come accross will be very much appreciated!!

as far as the smog crap goes check out this web-site
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/webzxr/zxr750r/index.html
go to tech tips and then go down to float bowl mod.. they have pictures on how to do everything.
as far as the big bore kit goes.....just swap the motor my bike is bored over and i still want to swap my motor( and then bore that one over :) ).
i dont think there are any tools out there to level out your head lights but i could be wrong.
cant help you on anything else o-but my bike is lowered and my triple clamps are about an inch down from the end of the forks

Thanks for the input!! I'll look into it!! I bought the bike lowered. Looks cool but not for me. I actually have gotten into twisties pretty heavy and would like to set it up right for a track days...

As far as mods go I just can not get past what Muzzy did with the ZX7R RAPTOR and it's 179 hp!!!

+4 ignition advancer is a nice mod that is quick and easy to boot. Factory Pro makes a great jet kit for the 7R. If running the stock air filter you can remove the metal mesh screen. This helps with airflow. You can do the 520 chain conversion which is a nice improvement as well.

Back in 2003 when I was talking to a rep at Muzzy's I wanted to buy a full exhaust system for my bike and he talked me out of it. He told me the stock 7R header and pipe are pretty trick and it wasn't worth replacing. So he sold me a Titanium Oval Muzzy's slip on instead.

first of all 179hp is a myth- never happened- the most they ever got out of their superbike was 154- and that is straight from Chandlers mechanic- besides the 850 raptor kit was a freakin handgrenade, might last a heat, might last a weekend, might last a season, no ryhme or reason to it. ZX9 motor is probably the simplest and reliable mod-

If your actually going to have someone do engine work, whether its your 750, or building a zx9 motor- Zlock Racing are exceptionally skilled at Kawi's. There work is top shelf, and Mr. Zlock is really a pleasure to deal with-nice guy.
