Carb balancing

Hello,

I've recently bought a P2 zx7r which had been sitting in the previous owners garage for 3-4 years, i knew there was an air lock in the coolant, so sorted that, he also told me the carbs needed balancing when he put it away, so that was to tackle aswell. While that was on my to do list i figured that i might aswell check the valve clearances which were fine, i've now rebuilt it up to the point of the carbs and they obviously still need balancing, so i found my rod gauges and when i've come to connect them up i can't seem to tie up the info in the manual with whats on my carbs, the picture just doesn't seem to match. the manual shows the hoses going to the bottom of the carbs just under the float bowl but there is nothing on mine.

Can you help please, it has me beat?

If its any extra help my bike is a Japanese import

I don't think it hooks up the the carbs it self, But just under them on the cyclinder block there are 4 vaccum lines . I think thats were you hook the gagues and then make the ajustments on the carbs. Or so I've been told.
