If you fit an ignition advancer...
do you then run the bike on super unleaded or keep with the regular?
Is there a gain in using the super unleaded?

Yep, Pre Ignition/detonation is BAD news.

Well apparintly you didn't because your not suppost to run normal unleaded EVER. BUT, will the bike run better with an advancer YES!! Pulls harder in every gear!!! Adds more mid and top end power....

"do you then run the bike on super unleaded or keep with the regular?"
Above question is MOOT as you should not have been running regular in the first place.
"Is there a gain in using the super unleaded?"
Answered simply by YES, the gain is that you wont destroy your engine.

Ok lets rephrase that question for you americans who didnt realise that hes from the uk and that he didnt realise he was talking to a pair of americans.... (Our european 95 octane regular unleaded is the same as your premium 91 unleaded)
Has anyone here put in anything higher than 91 PON or 95 RON in their bikes after having installed an ignition advancer and noticed any gains? (Any more than just having the ignition advancer in the first place)

Yas. I use about 2 tanks a week of unleaded 109 octane and it makes a big diffrence. every now and then I'd run 110 leaded but got tired of cleaning the carbs every other month. It will make a diffrence on any carbarated bike. Fuel injection on the other hand is not as noticable.

Don't NEED 109 I just run it. You should try it gives you a few extra hp and REALLY helps with throttle response.. Makes carbs feel like fuel injection.

unless youre running a special type or brand of 109 that has more energy per gallon or litre youre not gaining anything at all. If all youre doing is adding 109 octane fuel in your bike then all youre doing is putting a more stable fuel, unless you do something to stress that fuel more like higher compression youre gonna gain nothing, standard untuned vehicles LOSE hp when you just add more octane but do nothing else to it.

Uh Huh...
You do know that More Octane = Less explosive
Its not like people think, you can't just throw in a higher # fuel and "gain" power. Mods and engine adjustments gain you power, a high octane or "Race" fuel (If above 95 american octane) allows you to run the bike with modifications without blowing a hole in the block.

It's not less explosive it's just more stable... All you can say what you want I run a consitant 7.1-7.2 in the 1/8 with 91 octane and 6.9-7.0 with 109 and WITH STOCK gearing and suspention. I do have oversized carbs, full exhuast and a +4 advancer but nothing to change compression.

More Octane just means faster burning under high compression due to the molecules being closer together giving you a better burn but with that comes excess heat
