what are best mods to make this more comfortable ride
I just dropped the rear of my 2000 ZX-7R 2 inches . After riding for a while both hands keep going numb. I have heard of drilling the tree or changing to motorcross handle bars to raise them any one have pics or details on this mod. Prob will go with some gel grips. Maybe look for a corbin seat. Thanks

do you have aluminum bar ends? the factory ends are steel and have bushings built into them-my previous owner had the cheesy ends and i couldnt stand it...factory parts makes it better. as far as overall vibration, i didnt know a drop would cause more vibration.
theres a rubber isolator on the right side of the motor-it may be worn out pretty bad like mine is...3-8mm bolts holds a crome cover- under that is the rubber piece, my 97's is really hard and brittle/dry rotted.
gel grips may help, plus they look better than factory
let us know what you find, less vibration is high on my priority too.

thank you for the reply
The drop did not cause any vibration i just figured it would keep me from leaning foward take a little pressure off my wrist. The bike seems smooth. I read putting stainless ends on the bars would take some harmonics out of the bars. Not that I fell any. But i have read other people putting quad bars on ther bike to raise them a little I have no idea how they did that doesnt look like much room around the fearings. And quad bars are completly different. It doesnt look like the make a riser kit for this bike prob is im only 5'6'' maybe im leaning to much. Thanks for the imput I will keep searching. I read someone saying u can also lower the front by 10MM max and some other guy claimed he dropped the front 2''. i guess by just sliding the forks up at the tree.

the quad bars work by drilling +tapping into the top of the tripple tree, the mount for the quad bars can be placed in several different places or however is possible. looks like a really easy install(except taking out the old clipons) all the cables and wiring reach-as long as you dont get ape hangers...id pay to see em on a sport bike, lol. ive seen a pic of the mod before, i just cant find it.
the good thing about using the quad bars is a little more adjustability-you can drill holes in different places to move em where you want... but the only downside is that its a straight bar-not exactly my riding preference but if you think youd like it, get a bar set and a couple mounts that are flat on the bottom, make sure to use plenty of lube when tapping the holes, and dont forget the loctite!

Are lowering links the only way to lower the tail?

i dont think quad bars would fit ....... i know they wouldnt fit if the front is lowered, mine is lowered about an inch in the front and i only have about an inch before the fairing would hit the bars....i have seen some clip-on's that came off the front end and then went up about 2 inches then out to the grips..... something like that would work better....but thats just my 2 cents.....you could even have some made up i dont think it would be that hard

Villian88- I lowered mine on links from Pingle they were easy to put in but I wish I would've thought about the kick stand being too long first! I ordered another one to cut down and weld. I don't see any other way to lower the rear without them.
I'd like to know how to stop the heat on the right side of the bike from melting my skin off during the summer. That would make the bike more comfortable for me!

Duh I forgot to post up the info on hands going numb.
Mine used to do that really bad too.
I simply switched out hand grips. I've tried a couple different ones and these have taken care of the problem completely.

For the $15 it's worth a try to see if it helps or not.
