Idol problem?

Just bought a 2000 zx7r. Kinda new to the whole riding thing. I start the bike with choke wide open and it pretty much stays at 3 rpm's. Once it's warm i try to close it a bit and get the rpm's down. A buddy tells me it's suppose to stay at 1-1.5 with choke closed all the way. I find that if i do that i tend to stall alot at lights and even just pulling in the clutch to shift. If i adjust the choke and keep it at 3 it's fine...i feel as though the engine is doing too much work.

Any suggestions??

Battery!!!

I have a 91 and the battery is low it stumbles and wants to stall. Zx7 hate a low or cold battery so check that out. Also air filter clean if you have the time.

oh...idLE problem...i was gonna say, "hey, i got a problem with that show too"

anyways im with the 1st guy, clean the carbs out really well. somtimes a fuel additive will clear things out. if the bike has sat for a long period of time, then youll definatly need a complete cleaning (100% teardown) if your going to go that route, make sure you get a service manual-you can find them illegally for free...you just have to google the magic words, lol
