Please help

When fueling, How do you know when full. On mine you can only fill it till its barely over the hump in the tank or it leaks out of the overflow tube. Is this normal? about how many miles should I get to the tank?

97 ZX7R

Thanks for any Info
Josh

I think u might have a problem. I feel mine to the neck maybe a inch from the cap. I usually run it 110 miles depending on how hard I run it that tank and it'll take right at 3 gallons every time.

Sounds like your over flow tube may have a hole in it in the tank. Pull the tank and apply air pressure to one side of the tube and plug the other end listening for a air leak. If you have a leak the best thing would be to get a vacuum cap to block off the bottom of the tube. Just watch out for over filling.

I did try to cap the overflow tube and gas started coming out of the fuel cap, when I started the bike. The last couple days I put gas in the bike I have only been able to go about 100miles before switching over to the reserve. When refueling I have been putting a lil over 2 gallons thats as much as it will go before coming out the overflow tube.

How do I repair if there is a hole in the tube on the inside of the tank?

If your only putting 2 gallons in the tank your full. (It's a 5gal. tank 4 gal main 1 gal reserve) and 100 miles is about 3 gal worth of fuel.

Anyway make sure your seals on the cap are good and that you have them all. There should be 2 under the cap, 1 on the cap it self and the other on the tank that covers the inside where the cap sits.
