1997 zx-r750 brake light stays on

hey

i just bought a 97 zxr750.
so when i hit the front brake,
the brake lights lights up and turns
off after i release. when i hit the rear brake
the brake light stays on after i release it.
any clues how i can fix that?

check the swith on the brake pedal. It is probably sticking.

lol.........dr. it hurts when I do this.....its a special race mod, that makes your buddies think that your anchoring the bike in the corner, in reality, your acellerating....I would leave it alone.....or make sure that the spring is attached to the assembly, which pulls the switch back to an open condition, or it could be simple corrosion. There is no real 'microswitch' there, so it is either obstructed, or corroded.

Not sure about the 7r, but on my bandit the rear brake light stayed on after the plug at the rear master cylinder switch became dislodged. You may want to check to see if the wiring for that switch has come loose.
