Bought myself an old Ninja for saving on gas prices. It needed some work so I'm throwing it to her. Just spark plugs, Air filter, new clutch fibers, flushing brake and clutch fluids and an oil change. I also shot some carb cleaner down the hatch to see if it improved anything.
Thanks. It has some bugs to be worked out. The guy I bought ti from didn't really take that great care of it. It's little things but I can't even get it started now. I'm going to check the valve clearances and cam chain tension tomorrow and see if they are out of limits. That might be throwing off the timing enough to make it not want to start.
Any links on where to get a factory manual for this thing? I found one for a 1996 750R but I don't want to take a chance of using those limits against this machine.
Check megafileupload.com for the manual, but I would be surprised if you find it. I know they sell aftermarket manuals at the Cycle Specialties in Harrison and if they don't have it in stock they can get it in a couple of days. They're good guys and since Northwest Cycle Center closed, they are the only guys I go to for parts and advice. Good luck man and nice ride.
thats a super clean old school 7. nice find. bet you get more comments on that bike at bike night than the guys on the new 6's and 10's. old 7's are the classic "muscle" of the bike scene. (IMO) keep it clean.

They can get it but I wasn't quite ready to shell out $112 for it. I haven't really dealt with C.S because I live in Hyde Park and it's one hell of a drive. If I can't find it anywhere I might just break down and buy one. I'll be replacing the valve cover gasket soon and checking valve lash so I do need those specs.

I liked the clean look of it too. Thanks. I will keep it clean.

That's unbelievable. I'm surprised there isn't a cheaper, aftermarket manual. I know what you mean about the drive too. I live in Hyde Park as well so I plan my maintenance accordingly so I only have to make one trip every couple of months, if that.
