is this normal? running hot?

I am wondering if my bikes temp gauge is correct, the gauge sits about 1/4 way up on normal riding and same when riden a bit harder (i'm new lol)
The frame is actually quite hot to touch after riding, i noticed as i thought my legs were feeling quite hot so felt the frame and its alarmingly warm! fan works ok and gauge appears to be ok.

Also looking at the rad etc i noticed there is a small pipe about half way up the right hand side of the rad is a pipe outlet which has a blank rubber pipe over it and jubilee clipped up, is that right? shouldn't it go somewhere?

thanks in advance

This is common for these bikes. The plastics have insullation on the inside of them to reduce heat and chance of melting. What this does is it forces the heat towards your body and the frame.
As for where the temp gauge is running at, that is normal. Once the temp gets to a certain temp the sensor turns on your fan.
If you are uncomfortable with the heat you could always remove the cowlings and run your bike naked to reduce the heat.
Hope this helps you out.

its normal, the motor will get over 200 while idling, never noticed the frame being super hot to the touch, although I try not to touch hot motorcycle engines or exhausts, tends to hurt.

there should be a hose connected there. it runs to whatever the part is thats mounted on the right side of the oil filter. sorry Its dark and I cant tell what it is. theres also another hose coming from the thermostat housing going to that same part.

missing hose?

I think that hose go's to the oil cooler which is located to the right of the oil filter when sitting on the bike. If you remove the right side faring and the bottom cowl you can get a better look at it. Get yourself a shop manual or go to bikebandit.com. Terry

That's correct. The radiator port connects to the lower port of the oil cooler via a long rubber hose. Obviously the port on the oil cooler is also plugged. Not sure why this would be done, but as you've seen from the replies on Redmonkey, you are not alone in having that line capped.
