Tighten or New Gasket?

Hi Folks,

Came across this forum while searching for the answer to a possible problem I might be having, doesn't seem like they're too many 7R's these days, so I'm really glad I found this place!

So here are some pics. I took this afternoon...

What do you think, is this simply a matter of tightening my engine head bolts (something I haven't done in 33K miles (or at least since my last service at a dealership around 12K miles)), or gasket replacement? Or is this sort of thing "within spec"?

It doesn't seem like its progressing, it's been like this for maybe 10K miles now, just the oil level hasn't really gone low enough between oil changes to be noticable...

Thank you!

You could try tightening the bolts according to the specified torque and see if the leak stops.

Else its the gasket replacement :-(

Cool

If it were my bike (which I ride everyday I can), I would not do anything until the off-season. Unless the leak gets worse or you have driveability problems. Then in the winter, replace the head gasket and then you will be more confident that you did the right thing. Unless you have to pay someone to do it. That is a different story. When it comes down to $$ I let some things go.

Yeah, that's my train of thought too on this... Although here in FL, riding season is pretty much 365!

I just don't want to get involved in it right now too.

Must be nice to be able to ride year round. I often think about moving from Michigan just for that reason.
