hey guys i got a 2000 p model zx7 and for some reason if i put more than a quarter of the sight glass full of oil when i fill it up on an oil change it blows oil into my airbox and the tube for my airbox fills up with oil (the drain tube just incase) and eventually overflows all over my engine and causes bad problems in the mountains ..... any idea whats going on and do any of you experience the same problems thanks Jeremy
p.s. oh yeah these problems occur only after riding in the mountains and prolonged periods of being above 8K rpms
How much oil are you putting in after the oil change? DO not fill up over the sight glass, use the appropriate amount of oil according to the manual. I believe the appropriate amount is 3.2L. If that is not the case, check to see if your radiator is low, it could be possible that you have bigger issues and water is leaking into your oil and causing it to boil over.
I agree with chief, how much oil are you adding, the numbers on the crankcase are pretty accurate, also you are standing the bike up when filling and checking the sight glass, I hope, don't fill it on the side stand
sorry i didnt mention this earlier but i am a mechanic and i understand not to overfill i cant put more than a half of sightglass full because if i do it pukes it out till it gets down to there and i just drained my radiator the other day putting on my headers and it was all antifreeze ........thats the reason why i asked because i am wondering if any of you other guys are having this problem once it gets to that level it dosent use any or burn any i can only put in like 2.5 qts with a new filter so i dunno just trying to see if this was a normal problem with zx7s or not L8r Jeremy
