ZX7 motor swap

I have spent alot of time scouring all info I can find about swapping motors...I know the 9 fits and is a swap performed..theres a company that makes a kit for it. What im interested in is if newer 7 motors will fit older bikes. I have a 93.... will a motor fro say a 99 or 98 bolt in or are the mounts different?

I cant seem to find an answer and I dont want to spend 500 bucks to find out.....

Thanks guys......

PS... my motor has 38k and im just looking at options for next winter..I saw a zx7 motor on craigslist recently pretty cheap but it was a 98.....

I also need help, ASAP! I found a 96 ZX7RR motor online and I think either the clutch or trans in messed up in my 91 ZX7 (R wanna be!). Any way, I would LOVE to put a real RR motor in my bike. PLEASE, IF ANY ONE KNOWS IF THE MOUNTS WILL WORK, PLEASE LET ME KNOW! The motor is only online for a few more days!

A Little off the subject here but can you give me the name of the company that has the Seven kit that swaps in a 9 motor please?

I'm a newbie for the 7's, rode all my life, but got a nice deal on a 99 ZX7R and I love it! Now I just want it to be faster

BRG Racing makes the kit. It's not cheap, and some owners have worked out their own solutions, as the mounts aren't really that far off.

BRG 7/9 Kit

As far as a P motor fitting earlier models, you have basically the same issue with the mounts (at least for the L/M models) that the BRG kit solves on the P models . Of course, that means a B model 9R motor will bolt right into an L/M frame!
