Trackday

Gone and booked my 1st ZX7 trackday at Silverstone on easter Sunday...can't bloody wait.
As usual my mate with his GSXR1000 K3 will be there with me. Bloody lovely bike, but like he says - a hell of a lot of pressure! Everyone is out for duffing him in the corners, because of that 1000 badge on the back.
Should be interesting this year, as the 7 is about the best handling bike i've owned, and as lacking as it will be on the straights, the twisty bits should be close!

Pray for sun people!!

Setup??

The bike suspension was set up for the previous owner. I have taken it back to standard to go from there.
Can anyone suggest a good fast road/track setup for a 210lbs rider?
Cheers.
Tris

Not familiar with the roads out ther but congrats on the track day and stay safe, keep the rubber down and do your self a favor, buy the pics if someones taking them, it's a good way to gauge how well your doing for the next time you go. Guaranteed you'll be back for another round.

Cheers mate - i've been to Silverstone before on a RSV1000 and that was incredible. Taking the suspension back to standard has made the commute in the morning a hell of a lot better but for the track I want to tighten it all back up...what are other people running for trackdays/fast roads?

I run my bike fairly stiff. I am a heavy rider so it helps. On tight corners the bike wants to snap into a kind of drift but on the faster corners it is steadier than a mack truck! It tends to chop and bounce a bit over bumpy turns but that is half the fun isn't it? The only real downside to having it too stiff is that it sits high and even when leaning around 40 - 45 degrees my knee is nearly a whole 12" off the ground!

I am yet to do a track day but I am sure with the current settings it would handle very well.

I am 220lbs. I upgraded the rear shock to a zx12r from a 03. It's spring rate is about 10kgs to 11kgs which works for our rate. You did need to drill out the bolt holes and top bushing to fit the larger bolt of the zx7r or make spacers for the smaller bolts of the zx12. The shock cost me 70 bucks from a junk yard and the took about ten minutes to put in the bike after the old shock is out. Drilling is not hard but a drill press is the better way to do it. This is a cheap alternative to the Ohlins and such.

The front fork I got Race Tech springs rate my weight.
