2007 zx6r slip on exhaust
I am looking for a slip on for my 07 6r. I am leaning towards the two brothers vale slip on, but the akrapovic looks nice also. Any pro's or con's from anyone who has heard anything or even installed their own?

I was in the same boat as you, not sure with Kawi and exhausts. I wanted to go Micron, because I had that on my r6 before, but its not out for the 07 zx6r yet. So I looked into Leo Vince, but you gotta pay major dollars. Also never cared for the yosh but thats me. I ended up going with the KR tuned, it was in my budget with a price a little over 500, so I wasnt expecting much since it was one of the cheapest exhaust for the bike. The reviews were really great for it however. Over all its a nice sounding pipe not over the top, but I am happy I didnt spend the extra 300 for the Leo Vince, the KR tuned is a good choice if you ask me.

I recently picked up an Akrapocic c/f slip-on, which I installed myself. Set aside plenty of time if you plan on doing it yourself. It is NOT difficult, however it does take some time. It is almost no louder at idle, but really starts to sing at about 6-7k. It took about 2-3 weeks to reach full volume (for some of the packing to burn, I suppose). It makes a hell of a difference, ESPECIALLY on the bottom end. The stock muffler has some kind of emissions-friendly valve that absolutely destroys your low-rpm zip. I learned this immediately after the switch. I was debating the Yosh, but I don't like a REALLY crackly downrev. It looks good on the web, but I am quite satisfied with the AK. Whatever you decide on should sound and perform well.

Well I have a AKRAPOVIC pipe. It's a little louder than stock. Not as loud as I wanted it to be. It looks real nice under the seat tho. It fills in the gap pretty good. I noticed a slight difference in power but it works better with a PCIII. I have the PCIII and the pipe now and the bike just screams. First gear wheelies are a normal occurance now. It comes up on accident in first. Stock won't do it. Second gear wheelies are easy as hell too. And I don't have to use the clutch at all either. Pretty noticeable power difference.

You guys with the Akros ARE removing the silencer correct? I'm asking because from the pipes I've heard, the Akro is pretty loud. Even at idle (compared to stock).

I didn't remove my silencer on my Akro. I tried but its hard. I don't wanna tear stuff up so I'm gonna take the pipe off and knock it from the back when i have time. It is louder than stock but not really loud. My brother has a GSXR600 with a Jardine gp1 pipe and his bike is loud. LOUD. At idle it's already sounding like he took a hacksaw and took his pipe completely off. It's that loud. It also spits small flames when he lets off the gas after a hard throttle. Its sweet.

This sounds like a good opportunity to get louder. Where is this silencer you speak of? And is it difficult to remove? Also, would it be ok to take the bike to a muffler shop and have the cat straight-piped if you have an 02 sensor eliminator?

You don't need to eliminate the O2 sensor because it is before the cat.

When you say silencer, do you mean packing material?

No, the silencer I'm talking about is in the Akrapovic slip on. It's the very end cap insert. Under the muffler, there is a screw, it holds the insert in the pipe. Take the screw out and take the insert out. It's just that the insert is in there pretty tight.

What is the easiest way to remove this insert pilot? Will it take away some back pressure? This is all news to me. Sorry to appear unknowledgeable. But if I can get more sound without hurting performance, I'm all for it. Thanks for the info, as I want it to be louder.

It's cool, u only learn stuff if u ask questions. U might have to take the pipe off for this. Look under the pipe near the exhaust exit. You'll see a rubber plug. Pull the rubber plug out. Under it, you'll see a screw that needs an alan wrench. I forgot what size it is. Anyway, unscrew it. Now, since the screw is out, get some pliers and try to pull the insert out. It probably won't come out easy because its in there pretty tight. That's why I said you might have to take your pipe off. If you take the pipe off, then grab yourself a long screwdriver or whatever will be long enough to go down the opposite end of the pipe to reach the back of the insert. Hammer it out using the screwdriver. If you are using the pliers, be careful when you are trying to pull it out, the pliers seem to bend the metal easy. I got really discouraged at first. I saw it bend and got pissed. I got back out tho, and took the pipe off and hammered away from the back side and it came out after some good ass hits. It's gonna be weird tho because the way the pipe is, you'll only be able to hammer away at one side of the insert. Once you start, you'll see how to do it. It didn't hurt performance for me. Since my last post, before I took it out, it is louder, but not way way louder. Still sounds hella better than stock tho and better than with the insert.
