Got my 2000 zx-6r a couple days ago, haven't even ridden it really, 14,800 miles on it, wanting to chain oil very soon if not immediately, castrol 10w40 motorcycle oil they sell at advance auto sound ok/good? or do you all reccommend/use something higher end like motul..or repsol, i can get that but just wondering what most peoples school of thought on oil is.
i had the same bike, i used the 10w40 suzuki race oil they had at the local kawasaki/suzuki dealership and i never had a problem.

Your supposed to use the search button but it sucks so I'm happy to make you aware of the fact that there's an actual separate forum dedicated to this whole topic. Here's a LINK.. which no one gave me by the way lol to that discussion >>>>
thanks alot smoov...um, not sure why i didn't search...temporary loss of logic i guess...and uh....92k1500....i had a general question about oil....not about the way something looks or is on my bike, but yah, i need to post some up, bikes in pretty cherry original condition...a little scuffing and a yosh rs3 pipe, other than that compleltely
stock i believe,
Rotella T. I ran it in my 08 ZX6R for over 30,000 miles and I run it in my 2010.
Amsoil is an awesome oil (probably the best), especially in vehicles when you dont want to change your oil as frequently as the factory suggests, but changing it every 3k in a bike is a waste of a lot money.
That's my opinion...please don't come steal my firstborn.
