Its made by Volar Motorsports. From my understanding that is a parts manufacturer that makes cheap parts and supply for D2moto.com, a notorious aftermarket cheap parts online store... :dunno

I personally would not buy that chain.

 

But check this situation. The sprockets are actually still good. I was thinking maybe get a cheaper chain, put more wear on the chain and sprockets and then once they're both gone get a set of new sprockets and a nicer chain. Kosher?

And also, Im broke. Big reason I didnt want to spring for the sprockets also is because at this place I go to chain is 40. But chain + sprockets is 90

 

Supersprox sprockets with DID 520 chain is what I went with.. Can't beat a lifetime warranty. Costs $210 for front and rear sprockets, AND the chain.

 

Well hell, lifetime warranty would get me to spring for something like that

 

Just read over the guarantee and they'll replace the kit for 14.95 inside the us when/if it becomes worn out.

And Im trying to steer myself away from buying it but the next step up is 90. The problem with this chain is that Im trying to find out who makes it and what not to maybe get some reviews but nothing.

So what do you guys think?

Please, please, please do yourself a life-saving favor and stay far away from this chain.......total garbage, almost killed me.

Problem started during install (a red flag that I ignored because I wanted to ride again so badly), when the master link rivet cracked under half-pressure. I decided to use the clip link that also came with the chain, and completed the install.

Do not believe the lies about tensile strength. Volar claims over 10,000lbs.........B.S.! 250 mi of riding = 3 adjustments. The chain continues to stretch. I compared a link to an old DID link I had laying around, and with 2 pliers, bent the Volar link to just over 20 degrees and it broke in half........compared to the DID that was able to bend to a 90 degree with no signs of cracking/breaking.

As mentioned, I decided to rock this chain anyways, since I had a short road trip planned. It totally chewed up my back tire (Dangerously!). There is miles of lateral movement, and it rubs the back tire to melting the rubber. Now I need another new chain AND a new back tire! So pissed off..........

I still have not gotten any response from D2Moto. Monday starts the campaign for refund and damages. This chain is a potential killer. Be afraid.

6 months later.....

If I was that tight on $, I'd buy a 'standard' (non O-ring) chain from a reputable brand. Cleaned and lubed with obsessive regularity, they can last quite a while.
