valve cover gasket again
yesterday as i was riding in town, normally no wheelies ar anything like that. i started to get a real strong burnt smell next thing you know smoke started coming out of the bike. i freaked out of course. loss all power. so i took it to the kawi shop where it was discovered that the valve cover gasket which had already been changed once was blown or burnt off or whatever youwanna call it. point is that it dumped all my oil, drenching my headers with oil and thats what the burnt smell and smoke was coming from. this sucks. i dont knopw if i should be mad or sad or a combo of both.S.O.B.

That does suck, but since it's a recall item/issue, they should cover you without question. Good luck.

If you loss all power it is not a valve cover gasket. Unless you lost that much oil. The new part# and the old part# were not completely switched out till mid 2008 sometime, so just get a new valve cover gasket on, and you'll be fine. I had m ine chaged at 7500, and I now have 15000 miles and leak free. I had to the good part # and the bad part # to amke sure I did not get the bad gasket put back on. Good luck bud.
